Singer and skit maker Nasboi has accused Nigerian bloggers of selective reporting on social media, claiming that they ignore his posts on national insecurity while amplifying unrelated content.
He said the pattern has created a misleading public perception that he is insensitive to serious national issues.
According to him, no Nigerian celebrity speaks more frequently about insecurity than he does on X, but such posts are often overlooked by bloggers.
Nasboi argued that instead of highlighting his advocacy-related content, bloggers tend to pick his lighter or unrelated tweets, which he believes distorts his public image.
He also accused bloggers of prioritising trivial entertainment stories over pressing national issues, saying this distracts public attention from more important conversations.
Citing examples, he referenced the coverage of a popular television host’s marital issues as content he believes receives undue attention compared to serious societal concerns.
“There is no celebrity in Nigeria that talks about insecurity in our country more than me. You can check it on Twitter. But whenever I speak about it and also tweet normal things, the only tweets Nigerian bloggers pick are the random ones, while they ignore the important tweets,” he said.
He added that such editorial choices contribute to shaping public misunderstanding about celebrities and their intentions.
“When they post those random tweets, people now think I’m insensitive. Again, but what is our business with the issue between Frank Edoho’s marriage. What concerns us about it? Nigerian bloggers will amplify those kinds of stories instead. When it comes to distracting the people, most bloggers do it. How many times have they amplified serious issues?” he added.
Nasboi has recently used his social media platforms to comment on insecurity and other national concerns, alongside his entertainment content.
