Afrobeats star Rema has disclosed that he ended his last romantic relationship because he found it emotionally draining and manipulative.

The singer made the revelation during an interview with YouTuber Korty EO, where he reflected on the challenges that led to the breakup.

According to Rema, the relationship had many positive moments but lacked the peace and emotional support he needed while dealing with the pressures of fame and his music career.

He explained that after facing intense demands from the public and the entertainment industry, he expected home to be a place of comfort and relief. Instead, he said he encountered additional pressure that eventually became difficult to manage.

“My romantic relationship was beautiful but a little quite manipulative. So much pressure. Knowing the world puts so much pressure on me but coming back home is where you want to feel relieved but when you come back home and you are getting more pressure, it’s a different story,” he said.

The singer added that the situation ultimately prompted him to walk away from the relationship and that he is not interested in pursuing another one at the moment.

“For now, I’m done,” Rema stated.
